#5 Did you know that if you went outside and laid down on your back with your mouth open, statistically you would have to wait 195 years until a bird pooped in it?

This is a rather disgusting topic, but a rather funny one :D

I accidentally ended up on a website which answers weird what-if questions people ask. This was one of them...

https://what-if.xkcd.com/11/

If you keep reading the article long enough, you will also come across an explanation, how come we actually measure gas mileage (gallons of gas per mile (America) or liters of petrol per 100 km (Europe)) in square meters.

Drink water! For your body and for your mind!

I always forget about drinking water. Well, somehow I don't have any issues to miss eating dessert. But this is true, many people don't drink enough water, although dehydration may be responsible for many daily complaints. So here it is, a reminder and motivator - Sarah Smith did an experiment of drinking 3 litres of water a day for a month and the results were astonishing. I'm still not sure if I want to look ten years younger, but I want to be fit, and I want my brain to be fit too.

#4 Did you know that it is impossible to read in a dream?

Although there is a whole internet community arguing about whether this is a fact or rather just a silly claim, at least from my personal (and my friends`) experience it really seems that reading in a dream is rather an unrealizable task.

The best "fact-based" explanation I`ve found is this:
"Supposedly an impossible thing to do, since dreaming is done with the right brain, and reading is done with the left brain, and the one cannot create the functions of the other. This is almost accurate. During sleep, certain parts of the brain are inactive, including those responsible for making out forms of letters and words (parts whose failure causes disorders such as dyslexia or dysgraphia). However, this does not preclude reading, only making out the forms of letters and words." source

So it seems like you can hold a book in a dream, stare at the pages and know, what the book is about, but you would fail to read a Snellen chart (an eye chart used by doctors to measure how well you can see in the distance - yay! Another interesting fact! :P ) or recognize a group of letters (maybe even a reCAPTCHA would cause you some problems...).

Well, whether you can read in a dream or not, here is a song for you - I`m quite sure after listening to it over 100 times, you`ll easily pass an eye check even with your eyes closed (and not just in your dream but even for real).

Finally a compact overview :)

#3 Did you know that electric cars are in total producing less emissions, even if they run on electricity that has been made by burning fossil fuels?

At least that`s what Elon Musk says in the interview you find in our article here :)
He explains this right at the beginning of the interview (starting 1:07)

#2 Did you know that by solving reCAPTCHA verification you`re helping to digitalize books?

If not you can see how it works in the video in our article here :)
You also discover there what is CAPTCHart,  which now turns on my fantasy every time I see a reCAPTCHA :D

#1 Did you know that by using Duolingo you`re helping to translate the internet?

To see how it works - check out the video in our article here :)

Becoming limitless through being limited

Apparently, having less tools or even none of them can boost your creativity to new, unexplored levels. Could you imagine how an artist destroying his art can inspire you? Well then let yourself get surprised by Phil Hansen and his story, just like he surprised me.

Tesla, Musk and Mars

After watching this video I thought - he`s surely from the future! Coming to save us all! :D
I`m happy to see it is possible to accomplish so much even in one life :)  (or does he travel in time...)

Btw: Did you know that electric cars are in total producing less emissions, even if they run on electricity that has been made by burning fossil fuels?  - That`s because a fossil-fuel power plant has a much higher efficiency than a car can ever reach, so by burning the same amount of fossil fuel in a power plant, you can get over twice as much energy from it than what you would get when burning it in a combustion engine of a car.

What makes Duolingo and Re-Captcha so amazing

So you probably know Duolingo - website where you can learn foreign languages for free. But did you know that by using Duolingo you`re helping to translate the internet? Well, it amazed me... :D

And I`m sure you know Captcha - the four random letters you have to write to verify yourself on webpages every now and then? You might have heard of Re-Captcha as well - the newer version with two random words you have to copy. But did you know that by writing those two words you`re helping to digitalize books?

Really a great idea - I hope there will be more of such projects!  :)

Learn anything you want - it just takes 20 hours

Hey! I hope this video about how little time you actually need to learn a new thing, if you practice regularly, will motivate you to start something totally new! (just like it motivated me to learn Polish - yay!)
